Empowering Birth Experiences in Southeast Michigan: My Journey in Spinning Babies & VBAC Support

Birth is a life-changing journey, and supporting families through it is my calling. As a Southeast Michigan birth doula, my training in Spinning Babies techniques and VBAC support equips me to help families navigate labor with confidence, comfort, and hope.

Why Specialized Training Matters

Every birth is unique. My training ensures I can meet families where they are—offering hands-on techniques, emotional support, and practical guidance tailored to each labor.

Spinning Babies focuses on fetal positioning, which can make labor smoother and reduce complications. Techniques like the Sidelying Release or Forward-leaning Inversion can help babies move into optimal positions, helping moms feel more comfortable and empowered.

My Journey with Spinning Babies

I am proud to have received the second level of Spinning Babies training, a distinction achieved by only a select few. This advanced training deepened my understanding of the techniques and principles of the method. For instance, I can now assist families with specific movements that help encourage the baby's optimal position during labor.

The Spinning Babies philosophy asserts that when a baby is aligned correctly, labor tends to progress more smoothly. Techniques like the "Sidelying Release" and "Forward-leaning Inversion" are practical tools I use to help mothers encourage this alignment.

The Foundations and Integration Levels

My training journey included both the Foundations and Integration levels of Spinning Babies. The Foundations level laid the essential groundwork, and the Integration level allowed me to apply this knowledge in real-world settings.

At the Integration level, I practiced techniques with expectant families, gaining firsthand experience in addressing their unique needs. For example, during a labor session, I was able to assess a mother’s challenges and apply movements that led to a more comfortable and effective labor process, demonstrating the real-world impact of my training.

Bundle Birth's Birth Worker Training

Alongside my Spinning Babies training, I completed Bundle Birth's Birth Worker Training, which focuses on the complete experience of birth, from physical support to emotional well-being.

This program helped me understand the multifaceted nature of labor, including the emotional and psychological aspects. A survey revealed that emotional support during labor can increase satisfaction rates by over 60%. With this training, I have learned to create nurturing environments where families feel empowered and informed.

VBAC Support and Evidence-Based Care

For families pursuing a VBAC (vaginal birth after cesarean), I provide evidence-based support and encouragement. Studies show many families can achieve a successful VBAC when guided with knowledge, care, and confidence.

I also train in managing “failure to progress” situations, giving families practical options and strategies if labor stalls.

Integrating My Training into Practice

My eclectic training in Spinning Babies, Bundle Birth, VBAC support, and addressing labor stalls forms a solid foundation for my practice. Each certification complements the others, enabling me to offer comprehensive support during labor and delivery.

I often blend techniques from Spinning Babies with emotional support strategies learned in Bundle Birth. This holistic approach helps families feel both empowered and informed, enhancing their entire birthing experience.

The Impact of Specialized Training on Families

The benefits of my specialized training go beyond just techniques. It builds trust and confidence among the families I work with. Knowing their birth worker is skilled in multiple methodologies gives families peace of mind and strengthens their ability to advocate for their needs.

Many families express their appreciation for the support and knowledge I offer. They value having someone alongside them who understands labor's intricacies and can provide practical solutions to potential challenges. This connection is vital for fostering positive birth experiences.

Continuing Education and Growth

The field of birth work continually evolves, and I am dedicated to my ongoing education and growth. I actively seek new training opportunities and stay updated on the latest research and practices.

Ongoing education is vital for any birth worker. It allows us to remain informed about evidence-based practices and adapt our strategies to meet the families' needs.

How I Support Families in Southeast Michigan

My approach blends Spinning Babies, VBAC support, and emotional care. I help families make informed decisions while offering comfort measures and encouragement through every stage of labor.

Whether in Clarkston, Troy, Royal Oak, or Lapeer, my goal is the same: empowering families to feel confident, supported, and seen in their birth journeys.
